The fire house is now operating as a Red Cross station. Supplies are expected to arrive by tonight. We will also be open as a warming station overnight for anyone in need.
Communication Warning:
We have been notified that cell tower backup batteries have approximately 1 hour remaining in Seligman.
Cellular service is expected to drop soon
This means 911 calls may not go through reliably.

Your phone may still be able to connect to another carrier for emergency calls, so 911 might still work—but do not rely on it.
If you have a newer phone, satellite texting (such as Emergency SOS via satellite) may still function, though it can be slower and requires a clear view of the sky.

"✅ 15:18 — UPDATE: I-40 has reopened in both directions, but continue to expect delays while the queue clears.
⚠️ Update at 12:10 - APS on site. People are out of vehicles and safe.
‼️ Interstate 40 is currently CLOSED in both directions at milepost 126 near Seligman due to a serious accident involving a semi-truck and downed power lines last night.
A semi has struck transmission lines, resulting in multiple live power lines across both eastbound and westbound lanes. At this time, Seligman is experiencing a power outage related to the incident.
DETOUR INFORMATION: All traffic is being rerouted via Route 66 to Crookton Road. Please follow posted signs and directions from on-scene personnel.
CURRENT RESPONSE:
* Fire crews remain on scene
* Occupants of a different semi are currently trapped due to live power lines on the vehicle
* Utility crews are en route; however, power must be shut off before extrication can begin safely
One patient was transported to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.
APS estimates it may take several hours to de-energize the lines and make the scene safe. They have multiple crews coming from Phoenix.
This is a developing incident. Updates will be posted as more information becomes available."

Lessig and Seligman laid out ways to resolve this months ago.

One option is that Congress could pass a law declaring that any change a state legislature makes to its results after the popular vote would render the electoral votes not “regularly given,”
which under the ECRA would open them to congressional challenge.

Another option: States could affirm that electors are required to carry out the will of the voters.

Or a legislature could pass a new law before the election granting itself authority to direct electors to vote for the legislature’s choice regardless of the popular vote
—so there would be time for the Supreme Court to strike down that bill (assuming it would).

NONE OF THIS IS LIKELY to occur in time.

Election deniers are already preparing to start the steal.

When I asked Lessig what was his worry level

“If it’s close, then I’m at 10."

To [Trump], it’s existential. . . . There’s no reason he would hesitate at all to do whatever he can.
