A later development was the SELF-SCAN(tm) flat panel dot matrix gas discharge display, and some patents relevant to that are US 3,886,389, US 3,975,725, and US 4,386,348.

Stuart WilkinsonAnyone else always feel like a shoplifter when you scan as you shop? My last few trips to my local shop involved using their "scan and go" app where you use your phone to scan all the barcodes and bag your stuff as you go round the shop, scan a QR code by the door to checkout and then walk out. Even though I walk out with my phone still in hand with the receipt on the screen, I still feel like I'm walking out without paying! Anyone else feel like this? #selfscan #shopping #scanandgo
