Now to a Vivian Mayer-style selfportrait. Its probably from around 2012, from a nightclub. I believe the place was called Solyanka, a quite poshy place in Solyanka street in moscow centre. This was a large space in a classic architectural building and when i visited a meeting place of the arty trendsetters, cool creative freelancers, and well-off white collar business people. its long gone now, seems the place continued operating for some time, but searching online i dont find any trace of it mentioned since before covid.
It seems I have made this photo with cheap underexposed color film. At that time i probably didnt know enough to expose color film well, now I would have known to overexpose it 1 stop, or use a flash.

I’m not intending to use this app/site/network/whatever for posting a lot of self-portraits, but I figure I might as well include a larger photo than my profile picture of myself here.

This photo is fairly representative of me in a number of ways. I’m wearing a kilt because that’s something I do on a daily basis. It’s a Utilikilt because that’s the kind of kilt I’ve worn more than any other over the last twenty-five years, though in the last five years I’ve worn traditional kilts more. I’m wearing boots and a vest from L.L. Bean because it’s a brand than means east coast heritage and quality to me. I’m wearing a Pendleton shirt because it says the same with a west coast connection. A wool hat from Ireland speaks to my heritage. And finally, a scarf calls out my support of Wrexham AFC.
