Cornwall surgeon accused of fraud over amputation of his own legs

Neil Hopper, 49, from Truro appears in court accused of lying to insurers about how he lost his legs

The Guardian

As a defense strategy, lizards can self-amputate their own tail.

The best part is that the tail contains part of the lizard's spinal cord and because of that will keep wriggling about for up to 30 minutes. Don't worry - the tails will regrow!
