I think it's not that easy to set up my own Mastodon server. So far, the easiest method is YunoHost script installation. The downside of this method is that it does not use Docker, so Mastodon isn't just one software; it's many. The textual outputs on the SSH terminal overwhelm me, which is why I dislike installing Mastodon myself.

I think I'll be revamping my container and guest OS management.

For OS management, I'm going to start moving my guest OSes to Fedora Server to take advantage of native Cockpit integration. It's great for managing OS updates, users, storage, etc.

For container management, I think I'll set up a dedicated Komodo VM, then install the periphery app on my other VMs. It centralizes management and makes it super slick and easy to use. Plus, it has container update notifications and management built in, which is something I've been looking for forever.

This way, I can keep my segregated VMs and LXCs for greater granularity, control, and reliability, but still have my simple single pane of glass with which I can manage everything.

Was watching "Dinner for one" via ARD mediathek to Chromecast device. While it is usually reliable, this time the stream stuttered every some seconds to fill the buffer - seems the endpoint was too slow.

Luckily, I had already downloaded a copy of the show into my personal Jellyfin, so I could come to rescue the evening by quickly starting Streamyfin (iOS Jellyfin client w/ Chromecast support) and stream it from my local server to my Chromecast.

Happy new year and hooray to free and open software!
