What a stunning weekend! Brick workouts both days - zone one rides followed by zone two runs. The trails were fantastic as there's been no rain for two weeks so everything is dry. Beautiful sunny weather. Legs felt good coming off the bike - didn't notice it on the runs at all. I am enjoying this training block!

Beautiful ride this afternoon sussing out potential running routes for my self-supported ultra in November. Did the Big Loop Around Ottawa and with the detours managed to fit in 42.5km. If I can tack on another 8km, that might do! I have a few more possibilities to explore and nine weeks!
When I was looking for routes, I came across an 800km bike packing route. It has been years (pre-kids) since I did any long bike trips but I will admit, I am considering it. I might do a little research and see if I can come up with a training plan so I would be able to pull it off.

Pup's first cycling adventure! I modified the double stroller to accommodate the pup and added a pup seat belt. The snack pockets on the sides hold her travel water dish perfectly! As if it was destined to be! The stroller has a new purpose and now we can go on bike adventures with the whole crew! She preferred having the window up so she could watch over my right shoulder.

Beautiful ride yesterday. Did I look wistfully at runners out for their long run as I rode? Yes! But I took solace in the fact that I would be back at it today.

Two weeks since my 67.5km adventure, I am kicking off another block. A 50km official race in August and then taper for another crack at 80km. It felt so good to be out running today that I welled up cresting the first rise. Heading into this block with a few new tricks - reviewing and revising my nutrition. Working my way through two recipe books, testing them out on my belly: I had pickle juice on today's run! Going to bring back cycling as my x-training. Not doing triathlon since the start of the pandemic means I cycle less and that's to my detriment. Going to rectify that this block.

Felt good to be out there today on legs that road yesterday. Excited for this block and another crack at breaking 80km!
