The whole section 8 term limits thing is based on the idea that anyone who needs rental assistance just needs temporary help to “get back on their feet” & it completely overlooks the fact that no amount of time is going to make it so people who work low wage jobs (or elderly or disabled people) will earn 3.5x the rent.
I had to be homeless for years after becoming disabled because my disability payment was not 3 1/2 times the rent. My current apartment was $825 a month back then, and I could have paid that because I really didn’t have any other bills. But they wouldn’t let me so I had to wait until I could get Housing assistance. No amount of term limiting would have changed that, and that was long before the covid greed hit the landlords.
They all tell everyone they should just go get a better job but they sure do throw a tantrum if they have to wait too long at Starbucks because no one can afford to work there unless they are willing to live in a tent.
