The world number one made no mistakes in his opening match at the Foro Italico, quickly dismissing Austrian Sebastian Ofner (ATP No. 82) in two sets: 6-3, 6-4 – in an hour and 40 minutes – in favor of the South Tyrolean, last year’s finalist and hunting for the missing Masters 1000 title. Sinner dominated the match from start to finish, winning his 29th consecutive match in 1000s (a streak opened in Paris 2025), equaling Roger Federer’s third place in the ranking of tennis players with the most consecutive wins in Masters tournaments. Per il tennista di Busto Arsizio si tratta del miglior risultato in carriera a Roma.

Bellucci surprises at Foro Italico

But the best surprise is called Mattia Bellucci. The ATP 80, after his success against Roman Andres Burruchaga at the start, defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry, number 24 seed, 5-7 6-2 6-3 in two hours and 34 minutes of play.
