I love how this movie opens with a recap of the most emotionally pivotal clips of the previousy movie. It starts in a postage stamp view of the engineering scene with a blue gel and then goes to the funeral starting in blue there too but gradually returning to full color.
Did Kirk know how to open the space doors? What would he have done if Scotty actually left when he told him to?
@HippieScubaSteve Couldn't resist watching this again myself. Thing that really struck me this time around, although subconsciously it has irked me forever, is how big of a misnomer the title is: at no point in the film does everybody not know where Spock is! It should have been called The Retrieval of Spock.

Just been to see #SearchForSpock 4K in the cinema and it's beautiful. They cleaned up the mat lines well. I love this one and I feel it's very underrated between TWOK and TVH.
Just watched 40y old #BackToTheFuture 1 & 2 the night before and did not care to review the 3rd one again since I finally saw it in full HD over a #decade ago
Chose to watch #ChrisLloyd in #SearchForSpock after reviewing #Directors cut of #STTMP nights ago.
They spent millions for 40th Ann. to make it into the movie we expected when we first saw those TV commercials back in 1980.
Its arguably as good as #Wise's #DayTheEarthStoodStill which is a bar almost as high in my judgement as 2001
would love to see someone add to old #SF movies virtual attitudinal #rocket exhaust to perform banking as if they were flying on a strafing run thru an #atmosphere and not the near #vacuum of space like I just saw in #SearchForSpock
I understand there is another series of several movies that got it's start by imitating dogfights---in---Space, which scientifically is funnier than #PigsInSpace when you really give it a deeper thought
