Maynooth University Library Cat Update

I saw Maynooth University Library Cat on the way to my office this morning. Most students I saw were heading in the opposite direction, in their Christmas jumpers, to pubs, or at least to queue outside them as they weren’t yet open. I think it will be a quiet day on campus, if not in town. Such is the Maynooth Student Xmas I blogged about yesterday.

Anyway, as you can see, Séamus was looking a bit disgruntled, though as usual he was receptive to a stroke or two and a head scratch. It had been raining overnight and such food as was in his dish had turned to mush and was in need of replacement. At least his water bowl was full.

Forest in the City

I had a great time at the recent Forest in the City event at Eyedrum in Atlanta, Georgia. The hybrid installation/concert featured the Bent Frequency Duo and was organized by Adam Mirza. The event was part of the SEAMUS 2024 distributed national conference. The event featured custom-built wooden panels outfitted with transducers so that they function as speakers

Seamus Heaney was born on 13th April 1939 in the townland of Tamniaran between Castledawson and Toomebridge, Northern Ireland, to Patrick Heaney, a farmer and cattle dealer, and Margaret Kathleen McCann.

Heaney was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 for "works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past".
