Oh, it's World Day For Glaciers!

Here's an appropriate song from the mighty Sea Power (British Sea Power as they were when they recorded it).

Il Tempo: Fotovoltaico, Seapower e Jolywood firmano accordo a Key Energy 2026

Rimini, 4 mar.

Photovoltaic, Seapower, and Jolywood sign agreement at Key Energy 2026

Rimini, March 4 (askanews) - Solar photovoltaic continues to grow in Europe and strengthens its role in the energy transition. In 2025 it will cover approximately 13% of the electricity production of the European Union.

At the KEY - The Energy Transition Expo 2026, a new international collaboration is now being born to accelerate its development.

The Seapower research center, affiliated with the University of Naples Federico II, has signed an agreement with Jolywood Solar, a global leader in the production of solar modules.

The partnership aims to develop photovoltaic projects in Europe by combining technological research, engineering services, and industrial capacity throughout the entire solar energy supply chain.

“It’s an important partnership agreement that we have signed with Jollywood - explains Francesco Lioniello, Vice President of Seapower - We are a research center jointly owned by the University Federico II of Naples; Jollywood is one of the first manufacturers in the world of photovoltaic modules that invests huge sums of money in the research of our products. It was the first to develop the TOPCon technology and is still innovating and introducing new products onto the market. At a historical moment in which we are aiming for internationalization in Europe, which is a huge market for renewable energy, Jolywood is aiming to increase their market in Italy and therefore joins us, which have experience in this market and in this sector.”

Seapower provides advanced engineering services, covering the entire lifecycle of the project: from feasibility studies and permitting processes, to plant design, technical due diligence, and EPC management services.

The agreement provides for technological cooperation, research and development and analysis of the European regulatory framework to promote new investments in solar photovoltaic.

‘It’s a nice surprise to be treated like kings!’ Why are mid-level British indie bands massive in China?

My group, Swim Deep, plays to crowds of hundreds across the UK – but in China, we play to tens of thousands. And we’re not the only ones

Last week’s storm brought more than just dramatic skies and roaring waves — it also brought a reminder of the courage and skill of those who protect lives at sea. As I photographed the storm at sunset, I suddenly caught flashing lights from the corner of my eye. A large vessel stormed across the beach: the KNRM (Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij).

Within moments, the lifeboat hit the water, cutting through crashing waves with incredible force. The sheer power of the launch was breathtaking — in one frame, the ship burst through a backlit wave, sending a giant spray skyward, and in the next, it rose above the water as if weightless. To witness such a scene, and to capture it, felt like pure luck and timing.

The KNRM is staffed largely by volunteers, men and women who risk the elements to rescue others in need. Seeing them in action, even in training or readiness, is a striking reminder of the human dedication behind maritime safety.

These shots were taken with my Canon 5D Mark IV and Sigma 100–400mm, with the storm winds and salt spray making it as much a battle for my gear as for the lifeboat crew. Once again, cleaning up after the shoot was no small task — but moments like these are worth every grain of sand.

Another hastily scrawled post - this time covering our three days, and two Dean / Dean & Britta shows, at Krankenhaus - it features owls, small steam trains, and ... pictures and videos of Dean Wareham playing with Sea Power, and Dean & Britta playing as a duo!

Dean Wareham and Sea Power and Dean & Britta at Krankenhaus

We left Hebden Bridge on Friday morning to head to Muncaster Castle on the Cumbrian coast for our first visit to Sea Power’s Krankenhaus Festival. We opted to take a scenic drive through the beautiful Lake District, although the beauty was somewhat tamed by the endless procession of cars (which of course we contributed to), and the crowds in every lakeside town we passed through.

I've just hastily thrown together review (of sorts) of last night's Dean & Sea Power play Galaxie 500 with a bunch of pics and a video (all of which you might have already seen) and gushing words.

We arrived in Hebden Bridge on Tuesday, late afternoon - settled into our lovely and took a stroll around to get the lay of the land… the very steep and watery land.
