The Secret Influence To Pink Floyd's Early Sound (Astronomy Domine / AMM)

YouTube

Ended the week and welcomed the weekend with Decay Music the 1976 debut album by Michael Nyman, released on Brian Eno's Obscure Records music label. The two works on the album, "1-100" (composed 1 December 1975) and "Bell Set No. 1" (1974) are both built around the musical concept of decay. Both of these experiment with percussive, long decay musical forms. "1-100" is played at half the speed it was recorded. It was written for Peter Greenaway's film of the same title but rejected because it was too long. It was inspired by Frederic Rzewski's Les Moutons de Panurge, which Nyman often played with the Scratch Orchestra. - Wikipedia

1) Play just above the threshold of audability.
2) Continue in this way until pianissimo becomes ear-shattering.

"The Hidden Object Rite" by #ChristopherHobbs:
http://musicgames.wikidot.com/sub:scratch-015

It's from #ScratchOrchestra's #NatureStudyNotes (1969), digitised for the #wiki from handwritten copies as it was originally published.

It has guessing, but rules don't determine the music a lot, only the overall length of improvisation and the moment when some of the players should stop.

The cooperative approach would make playing suggestive ("musical hints").
