The Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer is the pseudonymous head of 'The Smokebox Club', a steam enthusiast's club that features in Rian Hughes' novel 'The Black Locomotive'. The original 7", 'The Smokebox Song', was issued to members in the early 1970s, and is linked to via a QR code in the book. For the release of the paperback in August 2022, Scott Hoffman of the Scissor Sisters added two completely new reworkings.
