Plan S – quo vadis? | SciELO in Perspective

By late 2025, Open Access has become mainstream in rhetoric but fragmented in practice. The path forward likely lies not just in enforcing compliance but in diversifying infrastructures—combining global principles with networked regional, scholar-driven implementation.

¿Dónde encontrar artículos científicos de acceso abierto? 🤔

#googleacadémico (Configura la opción de acceso abierto)
#doaj
#scielo
#pubmed Central (para biomedicina y ciencias de la salud).
#arxiv (ciencias exactas y computación).

💡Consejo: Muchos investigadores suben sus artículos en ResearchGate o Academia.edu, aunque estas no son plataformas completamente abiertas.

Best way to avoid any of those troubles: Diamond OA! :)
I'd love the EC take some of the gigantic sums of money that is nevertheless flowing via APCs to major publishers and just go and found Diamond OA journals for peanuts in comparisons.

Role model: #sciELO doing Diamond before we even started calling it so :)

In September of 2023, the paradigm of Open Access publishing – #SciELO – celebrated its 25-year jubilee, naturally with an Open Access and Open Science themed conference. The link below points to a report, just published, on the session about technologies that enable accessibility.

In September 2023, prominent voices in Open Science and FAIR Data gathered in São Paulo, Brazil to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Presentations and workshops were held that reviewed progress in th

@impactology Thanks for sharing! We're thrilled to share more about #SciELO in a showcase on our blog, as we collaborated to create #OpenPreprintSystems:

SciELO Preprints - Public Knowledge Project

SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) is a bibliographic database, digital library, and cooperative electronic publishing model of open access journals. Originally established in Brazil in 1997, it has expanded to include collections from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. To further their mission, SciELO has launched a preprint server using OPS. Alex Mendonça, who is co-leading […]

“A few years on, and with the SciELO Preprints server now in place, it is possible to look back at the “threats” and “promises” of those times, benefit from a more sober and fact-informed appraisal and answer to the question: what has actually been achieved in this short but intense period of time?” -- SciELO Blog "In Perspective"

#Scielo (https://www.scielo.org) website seems to be down. It is the URL i used to use, and it is the one that is given to me as the first search result in #DDG and Google. Was it moved? Does anyone know what is going on?

The #COAR (@coar_ev) #Notify project has created exciting new levels of #interoperability between #OpenAccess #preprint #repositories and other pieces of #OpenInfrastructure.
