Quick morning catching up with the #SchmidtOcean stream...
We went from comical accidental dropping of the net and having to retrieve it, to one of the species not surviving the collecting. :( It's a rare occurrence but hard to watch all the same (and an unfortunate part of the job).
It's also someone's birthday so they had all of these cute messages scribbled on the collection boxes.
Quite an emotional ride, this one. D:
Hey, it's the little dude from the headlines! The Chaunacops! They briefly discussed not liking the common name "coffin fish" and said something like "crochet fish" would be more fitting. I agree.
There was something comical about the robot arm whipping out the bright yellow fishing net.
And then you could hear the whole team go "AWWW" in disappointment when it escaped. 😂
