🧠 New publication from our lab 🥳! Nala ( @MaFu55 Lab, @dzne) & Naya (Corentin Le Magueresse Lab) show that #schizophrenia-associated complement C4 impairs #synaptic connectivity and alters #microglia–synapse interactions via #CR3 signaling.
@MaFu55 @dzne They find that increased C4 reduces #synapse density while decreasing #microglial contact with synapses. This challenges the simple "more pruning" view and points to disrupted microglial surveillance and signaling instead. Together, this links C4–CR3 signaling to circuit-level dysfunction, providing a mechanistic bridge between immune genetics and synaptic pathology in #schizophrenia.
Huge congratulations to Nala & Naya and all co-authors on this excellent work! 🎉
