Working on my book about holes and this rather catastrophic hole seems quite appropriate for today as the US Congress votes against green energy, against healthcare, against common sense, against the people, against the future and in favor of folks like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. It feels like we are falling into an abyss, of fascist greed and climate catastrophe. But we must fight. Otherwise, we most certainly will live that nightmare.

A blackbird dreaming in spring. I’ve had a rather fraught relationship with some blackbirds this spring. The black birds, I have been contending with are red wing blackbirds, starlings, and the common grackle. I love birds, but these birds eat up all the birdseed and scare away the other smaller birds. For a while, this spring, I fought it banging on the window to scare them away. But then I thought I think there’s more than enough to share and I just started putting out more bird feed now the smaller birds come and the bigger black birds, but there’s enough that no one goes hungry and there’s a better vibe.
