Not far from Katori Jingū is this pleasant area called "Little Edo Sawara", which is basically the historical district of Katori City. A nice array of well restored old buildings to see here - and the canals that run through Sawara are the same waterways merchants used 200 years ago (to transport goods such as alcohol, miso paste, soy sauce and rice from the north of Japan).
