A team of researchers has collected data in the Pacific Ocean in order to track the routes taken by floating plastic debris. The international organization "Plastic Change" is helping to raise awareness about the increasing pollution of our oceans by plastic.

Many of us rarely see the ocean. Perhaps we remember dipping our toes in freezing water as a child, or waves lashing against rocks during a storm. But the deep oceans – where the whales live – are a mystery to us.
We are not aware how important the oceans are to the health of our planet. Humanity is wrecking the very seas upon which we depend.
