This is really sad. There are a lot of dedicated students at New College who will graduate from school with a lesser reputation as a result of the new regime's effort to flood the institution with right-wing, Christian men.

Some of these students are coming into the school with a big chip on their shoulder, and a real sense of personal righteousness. They aren't there to study or learn. They are there to play sports, party with their friends, and own the libs. It is a disservice to the professors and all the other students who are going to college to get an education.

Another thing that you can attribute to incompetence, but a particularly malicious sort: the Administration abolished a department that provided important services to students without assessing what those services were or how to replace them. Current and former students, staff, and faculty filed a civil rights complaint against the new administration at the New College of Florida. The complaint details discrimination against students in violation of civil rights laws. One thing that stands out: official acquiescence to Trustee Christopher Rufo's childish mocking and peevish name-calling directed at specific students and parents. Hard to imagine an adult behaving the way he does, but it's harder to imagine a bunch of other adults quietly standing by.
