On the morning of August 10, students received urgent intel from army intelligence indicating that a judicial coup was set to unfold that very day at the High Court.
The then Chief Justice, Obaidul Hasan—a former Chatra League leader appointed by Dictator Hasina—summoned all judges of the Supreme Court. Their plan was to declare the Dr. Younus-led interim government illegal while he was outside Dhaka.
Upon learning of this scheme, the movement's coordinators rallied all students to protest in front of the High Court. As a result, the Chief Justice was compelled to resign.
We are currently facing a challenging time. The India-backed Hasina regime has embezzled billions of dollars from Bangladesh and possesses vast resources. I doubt they will cease creating chaos anytime soon. The misinformation campaign by Indian intelligence on social media and Indian news channels is particularly troubling.
Recently, they've started posting violent content on Facebook and boosting those posts. We’ve attempted to report them, but despite hundreds of reports, Facebook has not taken any of those down. It feels intentional. Their tactic involves writing about something innocuous, like a BMW car, in English while attaching a photo that promotes violence and misinformation.
I couldn’t include any screenshots because my $5 Linode server can’t process images. I wanted to upgrade the server, but I’m uncertain whether I’ll be able to afford the bills. :)
In any case, I aim to eventually bring regular people onto the fediverse. Do you have any ideas to share? Perhaps I could run ads on Facebook and write blog posts in Bangla as well.
