Bernd das Brot, or Bernd the Bread, is a cult classic in Germany. The puppet is renowned for his deep, gloomy voice, his forever-grumpy outlook on life and his favorite expression, “Mist!” This year, his friends are urging him to become a bread influencer. Bernd’s first episode aired on KiKA in 2000. In 2003, the network put Bernd into the night loop for the first time, kicking off his popularity among adults.
