Thinking about artists that I was introduced to by seeing them perform on a late night TV show. I'm pretty sure this was the first time I saw or heard of Billie Eilish. She was 16. Her first performance for a national audience might have been on James Corden, when she was 15.

I got a little off track with my previous post, so I'm offering another one. I pulled k. d. lang from the list I composed earlier this week of 10 artists I've seen perform live. I saw her in a venue that had great acoustics, and the concert was just wonderful.

And I picked this selection as I've also been reminiscing this week about David Letterman, who developed the Late Night show that Stephen Colbert took over and which has now sadly ended. I like Letterman's patter with k. d. at 4:52.

I responded to a post that was going around a couple of days ago that asked for a list of 10 musical artists you've seen live. I remembered (eventually) that I once went to a showing of the film "Koyaanisqatsi" at Lincoln Center in NYC. Philip Glass, who composed the score, was there live with an orchestra to provide the music.

"Pruitt Igoe" is one of the 9 movements in the score and is the name of a huge public housing project that is featured in the film.
