Sasanian Woman and Buffalo Silver Rhyton, 6th–7th century CE
This remarkable silver rhyton, decorated with mercury gilding and glass inlays, combines the head of a woman with that of a water buffalo—blending artistic traditions from both Iranian and Greek ceremonial vessels. Designed as a drinking or pouring vessel, it features a filling hole at the top and a spout at the front.
Currently preserved at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
