I recently learned that #Sarawak freaking leads the way for green/renewable energy in Malaysia, if not also the region (Indonesia and Singapore, for example both imports green energy from Sarawak) - today I discovered that their state government even has a (first come, first serve limited) subsidy for solar panel/system installations at home with max of 12k MYR. So for a typical ~20k MYR setup, you only need to pay the remaining 8k MYR with the subsidy.

Istg Sarawak seems to be the only state in Malaysia with great, progressive state policies and initiatives (that people could actually feel and see). Is it too late to be reborn as a Sarawakian?

Mulu is a very touristy place, but still worth a visit. Caving in the tropics was an entirely different experience.

On my last day in the Kelabit highlands I tried the opposite direction in direction to the Indonesian border. The swampy lands around several abandoned rice farms made it an unexpected challenge.

The dense thicket of ferns and shrubs at the edge of the rainforest seemed impenetrable. Undirected I wandered along the forest's edge through the paddy fields until I finally found a path that led me into this lush greenery.

After some time, I reached a little waterfall; from there, only a faint trail led deeper into the untouched jungle.

Simultaneously there was a steday flow of music transcription work for #Disney television/streaming.

Somehow we still managed a trip to see the Santa Barbara Symphony and friend, concertmaster Elizabeth Hedman; and attend a Chinese New Year celebration with our Los Angeles Sarawakian friends that featured friendly people and great food - rendang, curry puffs, pandan chiffon cake, and more!
