Predestination es una de las películas sobre viajes en el tiempo más interesantes que se pueden ver actualmente, principalmente por proponer teorías distintas a las que se suelen ver en películas como Back to the Future, The Butterfly Effect y Primer, entre otras.
De acá en adelante hablaré de las teorías del tiempo, lo que puede dar pequeños spoilers de Predestination.
Predestination se diferencia de otras por su teoría sobre una línea de tiempo lineal: el futuro es consecuencia del pasado, y a su vez el pasado es consecuencia del futuro, por lo que esta línea temporal no es moldeable y sus sucesos son parte de un «destino» inmodificable. A diferencia de otras películas como BTTF, donde los viajes al pasado modifican el futuro, haciendo que estos no sean consecuencias como tal, sino una modificación de la línea temporal.
Para resumir, básicamente en Predestination el tiempo es un loop, y en BTTF es un árbol con múltiples ramificaciones, similar a la teoría del multiverso.
Al momento de su estreno, Predestination no tuvo el reconocimiento comercial que merecía y se perdió en las salas de cine, principalmente por ser una película con un presupuesto acotado, que no llamó mucho la atención. Sin embargo, como pocas veces ocurre, fue la industria quien le dio el reconocimiento, llevándose varios premios, incluidos el de mejor actriz y mejor película en los premios AACTA. También el tiempo hizo lo suyo transformándola en una cinta de culto.

Un thriller psicologico con buonissimi interpreti, tra tutti a protagonista #SarahSnook, già bravissima in #Succession.

If you haven’t seen her in Predestination you should fix that as soon as possible. It’s remarkable. One of the best performances I’ve ever seen.
