Hello le Fédivers !

Je cherche quelqu'un·e sur Paris qui pourrait passer un smartphone #SamsungGalaxyS23 sous /e/OS #eOS pour ma conjointe. Bien évidemment nous paierons l'intervention.
L'idée est de pouvoir faire ça de façon safe : on peut faire un backup des données et si jamais l'intall se passe mal, la ROM Android d'origine est remise (= pas de tel brické quoi 😅).

Connaissez-vous une personne de confiance qui pourrait le faire et nous mettre en relation ?

Hello hivemind,
here is a question and I am pretty stuck with things.

I have an Samsung Galaxy S23 (SM9118B/DS probably German version) and want to flash an uncluttered ROM like LineageOS on it.

Unfortunately I'm not able to unlock the OEM bootloader. Any ideas?

Dev options available, waited a week with sim card installed and powered all the way through. Latest official firmware (One UI 8.0, Android 16, Knox 3.12).

Any help appreciated.

Samsung releases the January 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S23 series

January 2026 is here, and Samsung have focused on releasing the January 2026 security patch for the majority of Galaxy users worldwide. As per their rollout schedule for security updates, Samsung have released the January 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S23 users, starting from the Korean version.

The following firmware information is found:

SM-S918N: S918NKSS6EZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
SM-S916N: S916NKSS6EZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
SM-S911N: S911NKSS6EZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]

To update your Galaxy to this security update, follow these steps:

Open Settings, and navigate to System Update

Tap on Check for Updates

Press Download Now

Wait until the download is complete, then press Install Now

Wait until the phone installs the update successfully

Make sure that you’re connected to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network to avoid high mobile data fees. Never interrupt the update in any way, or problems could occur later. Make sure that you apply all available updates once you update your phone for maximum stability. An update might take 5 to 10 minutes to apply, depending on the device and the type of the update being applied.

If you’re seeing “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update hasn’t reached your device yet. Keep checking for updates, as Samsung rolls it out gradually to all devices from country to country, usually starting from Korea.
