#Samish back on #Anacortes/#SanJuanIslands route, joining #Kaleetan & #Tillikum. #Yakima repairs ongoing. We're working to clear as much traffic as possible at our terminals. Traveling standby with a vehicle on route not recommended as reservations holders are prioritized. https://t.co/WLgKG9ewqH

Our crew launched a rescue boat, bringing 4 of the 6 people aboard #Samish, giving them medical attention, food & hot water bottles. Other 2 waited for arrival of @USCGPacificNW personnel, who escorted them to #Anacortes while our crew used ferry to shield them during transit. https://t.co/Q8PBpPpKDR

#ICYMI, #Samish crew helped rescue 6 boaters near Decatur Island on 3/9. Strong winds & waves smashed windshield of their vessel, filling cabin with water & making radio inoperable. After hearing distress call, crew was 1st on scene, using ferry to block boat from the weather. https://t.co/HQKPR4oEEI

Great job to crew of #Samish who assisted in rescue of 6 people & 2 dogs on 3/9 by Thatcher Pass. Gale force winds sent a wave over bow of distressed vessel, filling cabin w/ water, & making radio inoperable. Our crew launched rescue boat to assist 4 passengers directly. https://t.co/bATSdzYGqc

"Tribes 101: About the Native nations that share geography with Washington state"

Great article in the Salish Current explaining tribal sovereignty in #WashingtonState and the 50th anniversary of the Boldt Decision that upheld native treaty rights.

Tribes 101: About the Native nations that share geography with Washington state

In upholding treaties as part of the “supreme Law of the Land,” the Boldt Decision of 1974 reaffirmed treaty law and tribal sovereignty — concepts still not universally understood.
