A long-standing wish came true when I finally got to go to the Jokkmokk Fair. It was instigated in 1605 as a means for the state to keep track of the Sami population -- the better to tax them, of course. These days it seems the Sami have reclaimed the fair, which is a huge yearly attraction. Some joking is being done here.
