Helplines that do not engage in “active rescue" or calling the police without the caller's consent include Trans Lifeline, The Samaritans NYC, and BlackLine.

9-8-8 does use “active rescue" and this is something folks need to be aware of. It may be safe for some folks to use 9-8-8 in the US, but it isn't safe for everyone.
