Went to the Salem Witch Museum. Glad we did it cuz it's a thing you do when you're in Salem, but it... was not good.

They sat us along the wall, then proceeded to shine lights on displays along the same wall, so half of it was above and behind us.

Plus the presentation clearly hasn't been updated since, like, the 60s, and was problematic at best (like hailing a man as a hero for having the courage to spank his young, female servant.)

Today was a day trip to #Salem. Everyone knows about Salem's history with witches but it also has a maritime history, including pirates. So, as well as visiting lots of witch-themed attractions, the highlight of which (no pun intended) was the Salem Witch Museum, we also visited the Real Pirates. This is a new attraction (opened last year) that highlights a single ship, the #Whydah, that wrecked off Cape Cod in 1717. This is a great attraction with lots of items found in the wreckage (apparently they've managed to bring up about 14% of what's down there since the wreck was found 40 years ago). Highly recommended. #SalemWitchMuseum #RealPiratesSalem #USEastCoast2023
