Le film est sorti récemment, mais je l’avais vu bien en avant-première à ce festival. J’étais curieux de la thématique LGBT, et en l’occurrence « trans », d’un film pakistanais et la surprise fut très positive, c’est un bon film autant pour son histoire que ses qualités formelles.

On suit l’histoire d’un type qui tombe amoureux d’une danseuse (trans), et qui doit gérer cette histoire avec sa famille (il est marié, et il vit avec sa famille). La danseuse elle-même doit penser à sa carrière, et affronter les difficultés (notamment de la transphobie) et la jalousie des autres danseuses (des sortes de meneuses de revue de Lahore). Le film est vraiment intéressant pour la peinture sociale qui y est faite, notamment pour des familles qui vivent au même endroit avec plusieurs générations et des fratries entières. Et puis, l’histoire d’amour est une histoire d’amour, et on ne pointe pas tant que ça le « côté trans » ce qui est vraiment bien vu, et sans trop de maladresses tout en étant crédible.

Ce n’est pas le film de l’année, mais il méritait bien qu’on le remarque !
