This is Murphy. A very spicy guy at the shelter where I worked. Incredibly cat reactive so usually I’d help socialize him before I started my shift. That day I stopped on my way out. He stood on his hind legs, w/his front legs stretched on my legs in #SadieTheCat’s “uppy” pose. Not sure what possessed me, but I picked him up as if he were her. He didn’t claw or attack but after a bit seemed to remember himself & wanted down.
Got home to find her gone.
Always felt like he said goodbye for her.
It’s been two years. I still think of you every single day. I still sing to you, talk to you, and am happysad when Sammy brings me one of your favorite toys, crying to announce himself with the toy in his mouth (just like you did). Grandma talks to you and Walt at the tree where we buried a bit of each of you. Jessie still dreams of you. You are missed.
Hard to believe she’s almost 9. She came to my friend Jessie (of #SadieTheCat and #MaggieTheDog) as a 3 week old foster on 8/10/2014 and I got to babysit her for that first week (while Jess toured colleges). That week left me in love with #OpalKitten & fostering. I adopted her that Oct. IIRC, I started fostering the following summer.

July (2022) is also the last time the abusive ex turned up here before I got a restraining order against him.
Lot of different emotions swirling around, just in time for me to be practicing HAVING my big #ActuallyAutistic emotions.
#MaggieTheDog isn’t long for this world. Without her, I don’t meet #SadieTheCat (my #HeartCat) or Sadie’s people or get into fostering or find my way out of California. She was my first time knowing a pit bull (and the source of my weakness for pitties).
Glad I snuck in a visit when I went to bury Walt in March. Wish I could hug Jessie (her person), Maggie is her #HeartDog.
Yesterday marked two years since #SammyAndHisLegendaryPurr came home with me. I almost didn’t adopt him bc #SadieTheCat was fading from kidney disease and I felt like the timing was wrong. Resisted him the weeks he was my patient at work and for almost a month while he was on the adoption floor. Every Thurs I’d be relieved he was still there and every Sat I’d say goodbye to him, again.
Eventually love won over rationalizing and he joined the cat army ~8 weeks before Sadie passed.

Her: i never felt right saying it to you but i have strongly suspected for a while. there was a moment in high school when you were talking about sensory stuff and it sort of clicked
Then she pointed out there are reasons not to get official diagnosis - like if ever want citizenship elsewhere.
Started signing texts/posts with 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈⬛ when I had #SadieTheCat, but now she’s gone and #ClarenceHenryTheCat has joined the family, it really should be 🐈🐈🐈🐈⬛🐈.
Also. Why aren’t there more cat emojis to choose from?
Thinking of calling her “Trixie” (as in Trixie Belden)
She’s about 2 yo according to the shelter
She’s a social eater
She’s very vocal & VERY loud when she wants something
She’s friendly, until she’s not. Reminds me of affectionate but temperamental #SadieTheCat. I can work with this. Just means slowing WAY down to watch for signs she’s losing patience.
