I like his dynamic with his brothers and his harsh personality. His long years in the diaspora of Outland are showing and that's rather good writing!
The third option never even gets mentioned. But maybe Ebyssion is wise beyond his years and let his two ambitious relatives have their pissing contest while peacefully wandering the Isles, taking in sights, making notes, whatever!
