War has truly stripped us of our humanity…
It forced us to live a life that no longer feels human in any way. A life filled only with fear, exhaustion, and the endless struggle to secure the most basic needs.
We wake up and sleep with only one thought in our minds:
What will we eat today? Will we be able to provide food for our children? Will we even find water to drink?
Our dreams are gone, our children’s futures were stolen by this war, and even the simplest beautiful moments have been taken away from us.
Today is my son Ahmed’s birthday.
I should have been celebrating with him in my arms, kissing his forehead and smiling at his happiness… but war has deprived me even of that.
This is the third year that his birthday passes while he is far away from me and far from my embrace.
Three years of nothing but prayers, photos, and unbearable longing… while my heart breaks because I cannot even hold him and tell him: “Happy Birthday, my beloved son.”
What kind of war steals a mother from her child on his birthday?
What kind of pain forces us to live with broken souls while pretending to survive? 💔
