#Uganda has coordinated with and massively supported #SSPDF while also deploying troops in the country since last year. This visit might therefore also signal alignment between two objective allies to the SSPDF governmental forces in #SouthSudan, while evidence is mounting of #SAF support to SPLA-IO, and that country is yet again plunging into its own civil #war.

Fresh clashes have opposed #SSPDF to civilians in Nasir (northeast) yesterday, displacing 3,000. This is the region where an agreement was recently struck with #Ethiopia should allow for the construction of a highway and pipeline to salvage #oil exports, that is to say #SouthSudan’s economy.

Although Kiir asks his people to focus on economic growth, the country is on the verge of economic collapse, as a consequence from the war in neighbouring #Sudan and the #RedSea crisis.

Meanwhile, cattle raids are prevalent in Unity and Warrap states (north), clashes in #Abyei have been dubbed a “#genocide” by activists, intercommunal violence remains unchecked in the Greater Pibor area (east).

Further violence in Tambura (west) between Balanda (backed by #SPLMIO) and Azande community (backed by #SouthSudan People’s Defence Forces, #SSPDF) has been narrowly avoided by #UN and SSPDF reinforcements. The Tambura conflict lasts since 2021 and has displaced 50,000 people.
