# THE NEXT 250 STARTS WITH US. ## We will **RISE UP and SING OUT** ## As we watch a 90 minute concert to celebrate the freedoms that belong to ALL of us: speech, assembly, protest, religion, press, and expression Pro-democracy patriots will gather to build relationships, unity and harmony as we sing along, express ourselves artistically, enjoy good food, and get to know our neighbors better. This is simply a fun time for neighbors to let someone else worry about the hostess duties and food prep and entertainment. Come as you are and support a small business in Long Creek while you meet new and old friends. Willie’s Tavern a part of Chattooga Lodge that has been restored to give us a great place for fellowship. With seating inside or outside, the sound will be amped for all to hear. Children are welcomed as we harken back to the time when singing was a cornerstone for fellowship. If you are an artist bring supplies to share and help folks express their patriotism artistically. For those less talented, perhaps a rally sign would be more to your liking. The 90 minute concert hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment will be a an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action. Featuring an all-star line-up of performers. The concert will celebrate the freedoms guaranteed by our First amendment. Those freedoms are: speech, religion, press, assembly, protest, and the people power that fuels these rights and is essential to guarantee them. Even as authoritarians increase their attacks on our freedoms and communities, we see examples across the country of people rising up together, taking action, and turning back those forces. We are building a more cohesive movement in Oconee and need to strengthen relationships to be ready when needed, ready for all of us to get in the streets for sustained, non-violent action. That will be the kind of action we saw prevail in Minnesota and hope will be effective at Delaney Hall in Newark. Some believe the inflection point may come in November as the authoritarian and _”all the king’s men”_ fear the election of pro-democracy candidates who will not capitulate but, hold them accountable.
