@ingo_wichmann @oec @JuxGD we had that #Bullshit in the past already in #Germany.

  • It was called #GeldKarte and basically noone adopted it [but like a few (school-) cafeterias (which are on their own statistically nonexistant in Germany!)] because schools don't get paid to offer free lunches, they don't want to handle cash and because #CreditCards are nonexistant [as under-16 can't have a bank account or access one themselves, so #Debit cards ain't an option either - ignoring that no #CreditCard issuer is allowed to issue CCs to minors (under-18) anyway, even if these are debit/prepaid.

  • People don't want the friction of having to transfer stuff back and forth which in said case wasn't eben free!

Nit to mention it's only physical (Chip+PIN) sales compatible, meaning one can't even use it like #Paysafecard, and acceptance was worse at peak than for #SMSpayment!

@energisch_ @mina @Nickiquote nah, I think restricting #cash is inherently facist, as there are already existing mechanisms re: #AML that make it redundant.

  • As long as #cashless payments ain't as fast, cheap and convenient as cash they'll always be a secondary option.

Not to mention all the #discrimination based off (not having) #access to #PaymentProviders and #PaymentMethods.

There's a reason why #SMSpayment and #Monero are the only ones globally rising as they are fast, convenient and universal, but even they don't replace cash in it's universality.

@Saupreiss @unixtippse @der_mit_ph

ALL DAS sind #Downgrades in sachen #UX!

@maxi but then again: Neither endorsement nor advice.

If it was my decision, the block rate would be at 1 second so it was fast enough for checkouts at a cashier with 3+ confirmations.

OFC nothing prevents a traditional #PaymentProcessor from accepting #Monero  instead of or besides #AMEX, #VISA, #MasterCard, #Maestro, #girocard, #AliPay, #JCB, #UnionPay, #ApplePay, #SamsungPay, #GooglePay, #SMSpayment or even #GeldKarte besides their stubbornness to remain irreplaceable middle-men.

@mgrass Personally I think that #MassMedia has to adapt and instead of toxic #Paywalling which only drives customers to #tinfoilhats that don't do that, they should embrace things like #Flattr, #kachingl and a regular #PayPal #donation button.

Or at the very least choose to make buying articles or an entire issue not more expensive and inconvenient as buying #print by having an easy #SMSpayment option like @heiseonline.

#Subscriptions are a #Downgrade unless they actually provide a #Service.

The only reason why #Monero  isn't seen as irredeemable #Shitcoin by be (unlike #Ethereum & #Bitcoin  ) is because it kinda does #UNIX-esque #KissPrinciple and does one thing only but good:

Transfer #XMR privately, relatively fast, at low fees.

In that regard it competes with (Instant-) #SEPA, #WesternUnion, #SMSpayment #TransferWise, #CashApp, #Venmo, #SofortÜberweisung, #PayPal (and as #PaperWallet: #Paysafecard).

@meerschweinchen83 @jr *nickt zustimmend*
