Oh man the automatic text description didn't know quite what to make of that image

I try to amuse myself with these scammers

A friend was in the Toronto area last weekend and got this scam SMS today. Quite a coincidence. Is it possible that the scammers are using Stingray-type devices to scrape phone numbers for this kind of thing? I don't know much about the devices or how they work, just that they exist.

I keep and edit these to train relatives. This one ticks all the boxes:
✓ Non-local (West Virginia in this case) area code (not shown)
✓ Scary language to throw the recipient off balance
✓ Chinese URL
✓ Standard scammer tactic to make the link (and any forthcoming) links active by inviting a reply

Cell-Site Simulators/ IMSI Catchers

Cell-site simulators, also known as Stingrays or IMSI catchers, are devices that masquerade as legitimate cell-phone towers, tricking phones within a certain radius into connecting to the device rather than a tower.  Cell-site simulators operate by conducting a general search of all cell phones within the device’s radius, in violation...

It’s the season for scams it seems. The FastTrak one is a new one - haven’t seen that before. The USPS one is common.

Be careful folks and let your less tech-savvy friends know not to fall for these.

So today again I got a #SMSSCAM . In the last few weeks I've been receiving one or two per day. Unfortunately, no hilarious example among those. I mean, at least I could have had a good laugh. So, I just routinely block the sender and move on. Does anyone out here have better ideas on what to do? Or any idea how my phone numbers can be protected again? Or maybe prevent social engineering - but when they #phonescam they only use computer voices, so I do not consider myself important ...
Aside the fact that I didn't order anything in a while, it's news to me that the Swiss Post is sporting US based phone numbers. Not counting the obviously fishy link in the SMS. #SMSSCAM

It seems the failed delivery SMS spam is on the increase.

Just had the second one today from Evri with obviously wrong hostname for the site to "enter your details"

Both blocked & reported as spam
