It’s back to Nissan today with the lovely Datsun 240Z. This followed a similar recipe to the Triumph GT6 and fixed-head Jaguar E-Type of wrapping a strong straight six in a sleek and sporty fastback coupé body. It fell somewhere between the two British cars in terms of size. Most Japanese cars of the early seventies sold to western buyers on reliability and value rather than looks or performance but the 240Z had it all. Today I am in lovely West/North Yorkshire at Wetherby racecourse for SMMT* Test Day North, an industry event that involves getting to drive lots of different cars back to back. I know it says South rather than North on my badge - that’s because I’m going to the Southern version on Thursday as well.

This is a #BYD #Atto and these retaining cords for the door storage compartments are also designed to be strummed like a guitar and give off quite a pleasing sound.
