A rivelarlo è il Washington Post, che cita funzionari degli Stati Uniti rimasti anonimi, secondo i quali Trump avrebbe ordinato al Pentagono di inviare altri 10.000 soldati nell’area. È difficile stabilire se questa decisione serva ad aumentare la pressione sul regime di Mojtaba Khamenei per costringerlo ad accettare un accordo, oppure se rappresenti il segnale di un crescente pessimismo su una soluzione diplomatica, che potrebbe invece riaccendere il conflitto.
Come sottolinea il quotidiano statunitense, le nuove forze, il cui arrivo è previsto nei prossimi giorni, si aggiungeranno ai circa 50.000 militari già presenti nell’area e impegnati nelle operazioni contro l’Iran.
