So this came out a year ago 🕸️. Yet, it is still around – both as a printed book and in digital #openaccess! 👉 https://doi.org/10.7551/mitpress/12547.001.0001

We just had a great author meets critics session on it at #shot2025 with @modo_2022, Elizabeth Petrick, @ccmmody & Thomas Haigh. Thanks to everyone for discussing the book in Luxembourg together!

I had a great couple of days at the #SHOT2025 conference in Luxembourg. Our panel went really well and I enjoyed presenting my work there. I thank Zach Furste for inviting me and the SHOT/EDITH Special Interest Group for supporting me with a travel grant. I hope to see you all next year
Lara Marziali discusses the conflict between state bureaucracy & astronomers in what computer to use (& pay for!) I see strong parallells to a contemporary fight in Sweden between effiency and scientific independence! #shot2025
@kdriscoll points to an interesting aspect of #AI history at #SHOT2025
Up next: Kevin Driscoll on the circulation of printed source code in magazines and books in the 1980s (at a time when ”using the computer” often meant writing code, starting out from printed examples or tutorials) #shot2025
The LisaDesk code serves as an example. Ca 40 % of the code is developers’ comments (including ASCII art!) offering useful insights for the historian exploring the development process #shot2025
How can source code be used as a historical source? That’s the theme of the ”Code Histories” series of panels here at #shot2025. Titaÿna Kauffmann at @c2dh.uni.lu presenting on the Apple LISA computer and its programming languages.
#SHOT2025 - the conference that has its own band!

Happy to report from Esch, Luxembourg where I’m participating in the 2025 Annual Conference of the Society of History of Technology (SHOT). Great presentations and dialogues going on. I’m presenting tomorrow morning. Excited.
