"Autechre Guitar" is out now. An album of #Autechre songs performed entirely on solo acoustic guitar. I'm not hugely familiar with the original works, but #ShaneParish's renditions are great! https://shaneparish.bandcamp.com/album/autechre-guitar-2

#Autechre Guitar by #ShaneParish
"This record shouldn’t, strictly speaking, be possible at all.
It’s not just that Autechre’s music is electronic and Shane Parish’s is acoustic. It’s not just that Autechre come from electro and techno, while Shane’s solo guitar music is rooted in jazz, folk, and the blues. Those borders, between mediums and genres, are as porous as you want them to be..."

On his new solo album, Shane Parish performs the music of Autechre on acoustic guitar. I really like his rendition of "Eggshell". https://shaneparish.bandcamp.com/album/autechre-guitar-2 #BandcampFriday #Autechre #ShaneParish

Undertaker Please Drive Slow by Shane Parish, released on Tzadik in 2016.

"A long time resident of the Appalachian town of Asheville, North Carolina, Shane Parish is the mastermind behind the cutting edge rock band
Ahleuchatistas. Here he steps out with a remarkable and soulful acoustic solo project that digs deep into Appalachian roots. Taking classic old timey folk songs, Shane has abstracted them in utterly fascinating ways evoking the haunting and brooding world of the American South. At times reminiscent of John Fahey and Robbie Basho, at times of John Cage and Morton Feldman, Shane uses these beautiful songs as launching pads for his creative flights of fancy, at times boiling them down to their very essence. A spiritual project that will keep you riveted from first note to last." — John Zorn

Odei by Shane Parish, released by Marmara Records in 2015.

..The album is a solo guitar set, and it argues that obscure sounds and inviting ones are not mutually exclusive. The sequence of Odei jars you, messes with expectations. We go from the quick-fire rattle of “Blind Contour” to the ruminant, eight minutes of atmosphere of “The Swallow”, from the stately phrasings and rundowns of “Rare Cry Blue” to the percussive sound experiments of “Barricades”.

As with Ahleuchatistas, you can’t help but feel the tensions here are as political as they are personal, but there’s also a sense of playfulness in all this expression, even a sense of escape. There’s something almost spiritual in the execution that aligns Parish with the likes of Robbie Basho. Unlike Basho, though, Parish carves out spaces, defines the quiet around him rather than filling it up. - Liner Notes
