New survey data finds that people who've reported being exposed to extreme weather -- floods, heat, wildfire smoke, tornadoes/hurricanes -- are more likely to support policies to address climate change. Findings released at #SEJ2024 at UPenn.

Experiencing Extreme Weather Predicts Support for Policies to Mitigate Effects of Climate Change | The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania

Most Americans report having experienced the effects of extreme weather, and a new survey finds support for policies meant to lessen the effects of climate change.

Great discussion on science and disinformation by U Penn’s Prof Kathleen Hall Jamison and climate scientist @MichaelEMann at #SEJ2024 conference in Philadelphia. “Every bit of carbon we don’t burn makes us better off.” @sejorg
In the early 2000s I made a mobile trailer and cabin at the beautiful rural NJ bay my second home office. My Philadelphia and Main Line friends made fun of me. In was certainly a struggle and a change of life. In the biographical book “The Drowning of Money Island” published in 2019, my peers are quoted calling it a major career mistake. Tomorrow I give an interview to a Wall Street Journal reporter about my work here. Next week a group of 50 environmental journalists comes to visit me at the bayshore cabin on a field trip from their convention at the University of Pennsylvania where I am scheduled to be a tour speaker talking about life here. I expect that at least a few of these reporters might publish follow-up stories reflecting on the virtues of choosing a simpler soft footprint life focused on environmental conservation.
