Did some picking, carding, and spinning last night with the #HogIsland fleece. It’s far softer than I expected, and has this incredible fluffiness. I’m attempting to spin it with a long draw, a little chunky, so I can ply it up for a throw or some such project. Now that the Hog Island is divided up amongst the three of us who went in on the fleeces together, I can begin to wash my portions and get to playing with them! Leaving them for an all day soak, which will be followed up with another one. Because this fleece came from a VERY happy sheep. Thanks, Rosalita! #SE2SE #MountVernon #FiberArts

I also picked up two Hog Island fleeces from the Mount Vernon flock. Shoutout to Lisa Pregent and her conservation team for their incredible work!

These fleeces are from Agent 99 (darker fleece) and Rosalita (white fleece). I’m dividing them three ways among myself and two friends. Each of the fleeces is ~5lbs, and should be a really interesting experience to work with.

More pictures to come of these once I have my hands on my portions.

I’m starting out in the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em #SE2SE program! Currently working through some Santa Cruz roving and Navajo-Churro fleeces. Looking forward to working with a Hog Island fleece soon.
