GEO-LDN Toolbox Surveys

The following survey is designed for users of, and tool providers to, the GEO-LDN Toolbox. The GEO-LDN Toolbox is a curated entry point to help users select the right analytic tools and methods for monitoring land degradation and planning restoration. The purpose of the survey is to gather feedback on the utility and development needs for the GEO-LDN Toolbox, as well as understanding more about awareness of the Toolbox. The answers you give here will help GEO-LDN understand how to take the Toolbox forward. Note: The GEO Land Degradation Neutrality Flagship (GEO-LDN) is a stakeholder-driven initiative that brings together Earth observation data providers and governments to develop minimum data quality standards, analytical tools and capacity building needed to strengthen land degradation monitoring and reporting, using remote sensing and data collected on site. The LDN Toolbox is a user-oriented entry point to a suite of analytical tools, datasets and methods for land use planning towards land degradation neutrality.

The #trend is still rising📈 and not in line with the #UN goal to “halt and reverse #LandDegradation” and, by 2030, to “achieve a land degradation-neutral world” (#SDG15).⛔

Eine intakte Umwelt ist grundlegend für eine globale nachhaltige Entwicklung. Gleichzeitig ist diese durch unser Handeln massiv gefährdet: Wir befinden uns im größten Artensterben seit dem Ende der Dinosaurierzeit, welches maßgeblich durch den Menschen verursacht wird. Die Ursachen sind vielfältig: Zu den Hauptgründen zählen die Zerstörung bzw. Einschränkung natürlicher Lebensräume durch Landumwandlung zum Rohstoffabbau und der Lebensmittelproduktion. Aber auch Eingriffe durch massive Lärmbelästigung und künstliche Beleuchtung stören den natürlichen Rhythmus zahlreicher Lebewesen.

Gerade in der Weihnachtszeit versuchen wir mit verschiedenster Beleuchtung die dunkle Jahreszeit zum Leuchten zu bringen.

Leider kann das den Rhythmus der Tiere stören und sie aus ihrer Winterruhe oder Winterschlaf holen. Um unsere Umwelt zu schützen und gemäß des SDGs 15 „Leben an Land“ die Artenvielfalt zu bewahren, haben wir euch ein paar Tipps zusammengestellt.

CITES CoP20 , Samarkand 2025 : Reshaping Life on Earth

At the 20th Conference of the Parties (CoP20) to CITES in Samarkand, governments took a decisive step forward. Beyond species listings and trade debates, they adopted new indicators to align the CITES Strategic Vision 2021–2030 with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

"SDG target 15.1 was achieved by 2020, with 17.6 per cent of terrestrial and inland areas now under protection. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework now calls for 30 per cent coverage by 2030."

On the planet we have 4.5bln hectares forests, 3.9bln hectares mountains and 5.76bln hectares of drylands/deserts.

Every year we lose 5mln hectares forest and in general 100mln hectares gets degraded.
