There is a bill sponsored by several South Carolina conspiracy-riddle Republican lawmakers to ban the use of mRNA vaccines in our state. These are the same anti-science goofballs that are afraid of "chemtrails", think windmills cause cancer and believe that fluoride was introduced into drinking water to lower the IQ of children an make them more controllable.
Here's what I propose: Those same anti-mRNA lawmakers should be denied access to ALL of these medical breakthroughs, even in other states and countries. And they should leave the rest of us the hell alone.

It's time to get past the lies that Republicans have spread for decades in order to stay in power. It's time to think different and vote different. Only the Democratic Party will raise South Carolina from the bottom of these lists.
Argue all you want, but the results over the past 20 years won't change and the continued failures in the future won't change - not unless the hearts and minds of South Carolinians turn around to WANT better for our state.

Indeed, it is very exciting to see so much interest in running for office with record numbers of people filing in South Carolina - across ALL political parties!
However, there is a downside to this: With these record number of candidates, this also means a large number of races with multiple members of the same party competing. Which means many primary races as well.
A primary has low turnout to begin with (usually half or less that of the general election).
And then in many cases, where there are more than two candidates running for the same party nomination, there will need to be a runoff which has an even lower turnout.
So again we're back to a very small minority of voters selecting the candidates to run in the general election. Not to mention the amount of money required to spin back up all those election precincts, all those poll workers, all those machines. We are so far past time for ranked choice voting (at least in primaries) it's not even funny.
