LazerdudeAnyone know where to get a dual fan CPU heatsink for a Tongfang PF5NU1G for cheap?
In an effort to make my laptop (Slimbook Pro X 15" AMD) last a few more years, I would like to upgrade it from the single fan heatsink that mine came with, pictured below.
As far as I'm aware, most rebrands of this Tongfang model came with the dual fan heatsink (such as the Tuxedo Pulse 15", Mechrevo Code 01, Schenker VIA 15 Pro, Eluktronics THINN-15 etc), so Slimbook cheaped out there it seems. The mounting points are present though, so it should be a drop-in replacement in theory.
For me on the lower CPU power setting, the fan is pretty silent though the chassis can get extremely hot to the touch, and on the higher CPU power setting, the chassis isn't too bad but the fan runs very loudly under load (and the CPU temps are still high-ish anyway, it is common to see 75 to 80c with 30% CPU load or higher). I'm hoping the dual fan heatsink will result in quieter operation and cooler temperatures.
Slimbook do sell it themselves, but it is at a quite high price (about 55 euros + some amount for shipping). Is it available from China for cheaper? Is it even worth the upgrade?
