Unfortunately, the #PermanentStandardTime bill in the #Oregon legislature #SB1038 is dead for 2025. It passed the state senate Mar 25 but never made it out of committee in the House. Friday was the deadline for the 2025 session for bills to be acted on by a second chamber. This probably needs a ballot initiative to get done. https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2025R1/Measures/Overview/SB1038 #PNW
"Oregon Senate passes bill for permanent standard time... or possibly permanent daylight saving time" by KGW News (NBC Portland) - After #SB1038 passage in the #Oregon Senate, it will be up for a vote in the House. If passed by House and signed by governor, Oregon would go along if both CA & WA #DitchTheSwitch too within 10 years. https://www.kgw.com/article/news/politics/oregon-senate-passes-bill-end-daylight-saving-time-switch/283-1e33b479-450f-4381-9dec-700ac409d308 #PNW

I watched as #Oregon SB566 #PermanentStandardTime bill apparently died. I didn't realize it was replaced by #SB1038 until that passed the Senate today. On to the House.

The new bill is weird. It'll go along with permanent Standard or Daylight time as long as both CA & WA adopt same in 10 years. Permanent DST would require an act of Congress first, since states aren't allowed to choose it. Excludes Mountain Time portion of Oregon in Malheur County. https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2025R1/Measures/Overview/SB1038 #DitchTheSwitch #PNW
