Study on the co-evolution of two pandemic #plant diseases of #wheat and #ryegrass (Lolium) both caused by the #fungus Pyricularia oryzae. The adaption to these new hosts occurred during the last ~60 years. Out checking ryegrass cover populations. Two months of growth. This is not well-established due to lack of soil moisture between planting and now (not counting the rains from the past few days). Back at the lab I’ll make the calculations and compare treatments. #soil #covercrops #ryegrass #research
